#45: Too Much Vitamin A Can Kill You
Polar bears, the apex predators of the Arctic, have adapted to their harsh environment in some incredible ways. One such adaptation is their ability to efficiently store Vitamin A in their livers, which helps them cope with the scarcity of this nutrient in their diet. However, this adaptation comes with dangerous consequences for humans.

Consuming polar bear liver can prove lethal due to its high Vitamin A content. In fact, just one polar bear liver contains enough Vitamin A to be fatal to dozens of adult humans. Although the thought of eating bear liver may be repulsive to some of us, this has led to warnings against consuming polar bear liver in traditional diets among Arctic indigenous communities.
