Ruby Guest was born in 1996 to Jamie Lee Curtis and filmmaker-actor Christopher Guest. She grew up with an older sister, Annie, in a Hollywood family with deep entertainment roots on both sides. Unlike her famous mother, Ruby mostly stayed private and later worked as a computer gaming editor rather than pursuing celebrity life.

Ruby came out as transgender to her parents in 2020, first by attempting to tell them in person and then by sending a text after she found it difficult to say aloud. In 2021, Jamie Lee Curtis publicly shared that Ruby had transitioned, and Ruby later discussed the experience in People and The Advocate.
