#34: Snapping in the Air
An air snap happens when a dog quickly snaps their mouth without making contact. This is often a strong warning sign that the dog feels threatened, stressed, frightened, or overwhelmed. Dogs may air snap before escalating to an actual bite if the situation continues.

Take the warning seriously and stop interacting with the dog immediately. Avoid yelling, punishing, or moving closer after the snap. Calmly create distance and give the dog space to settle. If air snapping happens repeatedly around certain people, objects, or situations, consult a qualified behavior professional for help.
