#5: Lunging Toward a Person
A lunging dog may suddenly throw their body forward, bark aggressively, or snap toward someone. Lunging can happen because of fear, stress, territorial behavior, frustration, or overexcitement. Even if the dog does not bite, the behavior can quickly become dangerous if ignored.

Do not yell, run, or pull harshly on the leash. Stay calm and create distance between the dog and the trigger if possible. Avoid punishing the behavior, since this can increase fear or aggression. Repeated lunging should be addressed with help from a qualified trainer or behavior professional.
