#26: Charleston, South Carolina
Charleston is famous for its historic streets, pastel homes, waterfront views, Southern food, old churches, and polished charm. It often feels like the ideal romantic weekend destination, especially for travelers who want walkable neighborhoods, good restaurants, boutique hotels, and a city that photographs beautifully.

The downside is that Charleston’s popularity has made it crowded and pricey, particularly in the historic district. Parking can be frustrating, restaurants book up quickly, and overtourism concerns are hard to ignore. For a similar Southern feel with less pressure, Beaufort or Wilmington may be easier alternatives.
