#44: Chicago’s Navy Pier
Built in 1916, Navy Pier stretches into Lake Michigan as one of Chicago’s most recognizable landmarks, packed with rides, dining spots, and event spaces. It’s often framed as a lively waterfront destination where visitors can soak in skyline views while enjoying a mix of culture, entertainment, and classic fair-style attractions.

At ground level, the experience can feel more routine than memorable. Aside from the Ferris wheel and lakefront scenery, much of the pier is filled with standard shops and busy walkways, making it seem more like a crowded entertainment strip than a standout Chicago highlight.
