James Began His Professional Relationship With Frank Capra
Stewart’s early acting gigs were nothing to write home about. He did okay, but he was still waiting for his big break. Then along came Mr. Frank Capra, a famous director. Capra usually worked with big names like Clark Gable, but he decided to give Stewart a shot. He cast him in a movie called You Can’t Take It With You.

Capra was impressed with Stewart’s acting chops, and they ended up working together on several more movies. Some of their best collaborations include Mr. Smith Goes to Washington and It’s a Wonderful Life, which is still remembered as some of Stewart’s greatest performances.
