James “Jimmy” Stewart: The Great Hollywood Actor

Jimmy Stewart wasn’t one to chat much about his time in the thick of things during the war. But he had some thoughts about Hollywood’s war flicks. He wasn’t exactly a fan; he found them too far from the truth, and he did.

While lots of actors jumped at the chance to do battle on-screen, Stewart only took on two war roles in his entire career. Once, MGM bigwig Louis B. Mayer even proposed making a movie about Stewart’s wartime adventures, calling it “The Jimmy Stewart Story.” Stewart’s response? A quick and firm “Nope.”
