#34: Endora, Bewitched
Agnes Moorehead’s Endora was the show-stealer of Bewitched (1964). As Samantha’s mother, she despised her mortal son-in-law Darren and constantly meddled in their marriage. Her sarcastic wit and magical interventions created some of the show’s funniest and most dramatic storylines, often drawing more attention than Samantha herself.

The series was meant to center on Elizabeth Montgomery’s Samantha, a witch who marries a mortal and tries to live a normal suburban life. Darren’s exasperation and Samantha’s efforts to balance magic with domesticity provided the premise. Yet Endora’s larger-than-life presence made her unforgettable.
