The Life of Sitcom Star Valerie Bertinelli

In 1990 Valerie Bertinelli returned to sitcom television when she starred in the CBS comedy series Sydney. The show featured Bertinelli as a private investigator and also included a young Matthew Perry, who would later become widely known for the sitcom Friends.

Although the series generated some interest because of Bertinelli’s established television fame, it struggled to attract a large audience. The show lasted only one season, but it represented her attempt to reestablish herself in sitcom television several years after One Day at a Time ended.
