#46: Deep-Fried Home Fries
Home fries are a popular savory alternative to sweet breakfast foods. Potatoes themselves are not the main concern, but restaurant versions may be deep-fried or cooked on a heavily oiled griddle before being covered with salt.

This preparation can add large amounts of fat, sodium, and calories to an otherwise simple vegetable. Bake or air-fry diced potatoes with a light coating of olive oil instead. Onions, peppers, paprika, garlic, and herbs can create plenty of flavor without excessive salt or grease.
